The phonetician of this book believes that phoneme is the smallest unit in composition of language. By four decades of teaching practices, the author boldly breaks the theory, and advocates that although the phoneme is the smallest unit of language, the smallest unit of language imitation is the syllable. If one wants to learn a language, he should be familiar with the basic syllable of language. Based on this principle, this book tries to train students to correctly master the ability of IPA by addressing spelling, synthesis spelling, loudly reading the IPA, IPA differentiation practices, as well as quantity of spelling and pronouncing practices.
